Mt. Batulao in Nasugbu, Batangas, is one of the many beautiful places in the Philippines to hike to. Being near, many outdoor enthusiasts from the Metropolis visits this Mountain. It is a budget friendly travel and for those of you who haven’t climbed Mt. Batulao yet, I suggest you pack your bags and go.
From the Metro, ride a bus at Coastal Mall Bus Terminal going to Nasugbu, Batangas. They can drop you at the jump-off. Jump-off point is at Evercrest. See Google map below.
It is an easy trail and suitable for beginners, but be cautious as the trails have steep edges and portions where you have to climb using a rope. There has been a report that a woman fell and died instantly, so be careful. Well, not only here, but be cautious at all times.
Hiking can take up to 3 hours or more, from the old trail to the new trail. It depends on your pace and crowd. Yes, it depends on the crowd, especially on weekends. My experience on February 1-2, 2014 was ridiculous. Picture a line of ants in an ant trail, that’s how crowded it was. We got stuck in the part where you can climb using a rope because we had to wait for other climbers to descend. I suggest to have your hike during weekdays.
The trail is open and exposed to the heat of the sun, so gear up with long sleeves and pants or tights. Sunblock is also recommended.
Thank you, Travel Tipid for the wonderful experience at Mt. Batulao!
