So you’ve heard about calisthenics and you want to try it. Good! In this article you will see a list of “masters” in calisthenics or bodyweight fitness and why you should follow them. You’ll know them as you read on.
Okay, so before I started BWF (bodyweightfitness), all I know about it is just pushups and pullups. However, when I followed these practitioners, I was blown with a lot of information. I now know that there are several ways to do a pushups, pullups, squats, and you can actually build muscles with BWF. And there are beginner to advanced moves you can perform.
All of these you can learn from them. Believe me, the video below performed by me doing a muscle up, can’t be achieved without them.
Here’s the List (no particular order):
He is a bodyweight strength training and calisthenics expert and published 5 books including, Strong Body and Pushing The Limits! You will see him smiling despite of the difficult workout session. As if muscle up is a piece of cake. You can also see him in articles published by bodybuilding.com
Why I love him: His articles in bodybuilding.com are great.
Two brothers, Dusan and Lazar, known as “Bar Brothers,” uses bodyweight fitness for motivation. Their target, of course, are those who want to be fit.
Why I love them: I like to watch them before my workout. Their videos gets me pumped up.
He loves free running, calisthenics, and other kind of physical training. He is also known for BWF tutorials and motivation.
Why I love him: He provides good tip and technique.
He is well known for motivating and inspiring millions of people into fitness. Making healthy changes into their lifestyle. He is a personal trainer and makes motivational videos. I’m sure one of his top videos stumbled in your facebook timeline.
Why I love him: He looks like a laid back guy, but performs insanely! I watch some of his videos before I start working out.
He has a bachelor’s degree of Exercise Science in Australian Catholic University, Australia and a master’s degree of Physiotherapy in the University of Sydney, also in Australia. He’s known for his tips and tutorial videos. He also believes with muscle hypertrophy using minimal weights.

Why I love him: Some, if not, most of his videos provide tips that you’ve never thought before. Plus, he gives good advice on nutrition.
Jeff is my personal favourite. He was a New York Mets major league head physical therapist and assistant strength coach for the National League East Champion 2006 and 2007, 2008 teams. He is the president of ATHLEAN-X™ Training and contributing writer of Men’s Fitness. He provides great tips about bodyweight fitness and also with weight training. But mostly with bodyweight training.
Why I love him: I love his tips about using science or physics as an advantage for our workout program.
Adam Raw from Czech Republic is a calisthenics expert. He is known for his motivational and inspirational videos.
Why I love him: Just like the Bar Brothers and Frank Medrano, his motivational videos help me achieve my goals.
Hit Richards is an expert in calisthenics with 15 international certifications through IFPA. He promotes fitness through calisthenics which is a natural body weight exercise.
Why I love him: I love his tutorial videos, nutritional guides, and his 4D system:
r/bodyweightfitness is a subreddit, a website forum where you can discuss anything about calisthenics. Please do visit, browse, or ask for help.
With these 8 experts I was able to learn more about BWF and helped me in achieving my goal. I suggest you should follow them as well for your personal goals. I believe they can get you there.
There are actually a lot calisthenics practitioners who are experts. Maybe you already have your own list. But, if these 8 people are not in yours, I suggest you add them.
